Weekly Prospect Hit Sheet: Monday, Mar 18
By Sal Corso: Mar 18, 2024
Can you believe that real games are right around the corner? Let’s look at some prospects who stood out and some big headlines from the last week:
2TB Favorites Fighting For Roster Spots?
Last week we discussed players that were sent to minor league camp. Let’s get positive. Here are players who are putting up a fight to make it into the major league clubhouse on opening day.

You can find a lot (if not all) of these kids near the top of our Ranking Sheet. While Merrill is the only one to officially win his spot, some others have a good shot.

There’s no reason for Saggese to not be with the pro-club, even though the infield is stacked up (Gorman, Winn, Arenado). On the other hand, VSII has every chance to not only make the club, but win a starting role (Carlson and Burleson in front of him).
Mayo has the same opportunity, given 3B may be the only week spot in the Orioles current lineup (given Holliday wins 2B). The Twins are building around
Brooks Lee and Royce Lewis, the only thing stopping him from an opening day spot is service time manipulation.
Caissie needs to work on his hit-tool a bit more. Without a 40-man roster spot, he’ll end up in the minors to start.
Xavier Isaac is Something
Here are two Top-5 Prospects entering 2025. You can put a 2 The Bigs Guarantee on that.
Samuel Basallo and Xavier Isaac.
Welp in case you didn’t know already, Isaac made that known to you this weekend. In his spring breakout game, Isaac went 3-3 with 2B and 2 HR. Here’s one of those. Boy oh boy.
Cedanne at Fenway?
Ceddane Rafaela is hitting .385 (5-13) this spring with 2 2B, 1 HR and 3 RBI. He’s all but locked up a starting OF spot for the Red Sox. Some even like him as a high-upside pickup in fantasy leagues. We’ll see where he ends up in that sneakily-talented Red Sox lineup.
Chourio HEATING
After starting the spring a measly 4-20, Jackson has gotten hot over the past 2 weeks: 9-26 2B 2 RBI. He has raised his average to .283. Put him in the lineup opening day! I’m talking to you Brewers front office.
